Test Your App and Fix What Breaks
You know how your app is supposed to be used. Your users do not. This stage is about using it wrong on purpose, the way a stranger will by accident.
The checks for your app
- Add a habit with a very long name, and one with no name at all.
- Tick a habit, untick it, tick it again. Is the streak still right?
- Download the backup, clear the browser's data, and load the backup. Is everything back?
- Use it on your phone for a few days in a row. Streaks are about dates, and date bugs only show up over time.
- Two people add an item at the same moment. Do both items survive?
- One person ticks an item while the other deletes it. What happens?
- Add an item with your phone's data switched off, then switch it back on. Did the item save, or vanish without a message?
- Sign in as someone outside the household and try to reach the list.
- Send a request with a phone number full of letters, and one with an email address missing its @.
- Send the same request twice by double-clicking the button.
- Copy the address of the owner's inbox. Sign out, then paste it into a new window.
- Decline a request. Does the customer find out, and does the message say what to do next?
- Press the answer button twice quickly. Does it count twice?
- Reload in the middle of the quiz. Where do you end up?
- Put a question in the file with a typo in its format. Does the whole quiz break, or just that question?
- Take it on a phone held sideways and upright.
Report bugs so they get fixed
When something breaks, give the AI three facts: what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. "I ticked Walk, reloaded, and the tick was gone. I expected it to stay." Vague reports get guesses. Debugging Systematically goes deeper when a fix does not hold.
Fix one bug per request, and check the fix yourself before you move on. An AI will sometimes report a fix that did not happen.
Keep the list
Save your checks as tests.txt in the project. Every time you change the app, run through it again. When you are ready, ask the AI to turn the list into automated tests, so the computer runs them for you. The Audit covers the checks that go beyond what you can try by hand.
